  • How many racers are on a bed race team?

    A bed race team has 5 members. Four runners, one on each bed corner, push the bed and remain in contact with the bed throughout the race, while one stays on the bed till the race ends.

  • Is there an age requirement for team participants?

    Each team member must be 16 years or older. For the ‘Teen Division’ team, members must be 16-18 years old.


  • Are costumes required?

    Costumes are fun but not required. Some of the teams wear spirit wear from their place of employment or their school. It would also be appropriate to dress for the holiday season.

  • Are teams free to decorate the bed?

    Teams are encouraged to decorate their race beds, sponsor signage are welcome. All this makes for a fun event for participants, spectators and organizers.

  • What time do we race?

    Your drag style race will be scheduled for the day of the race. On the day before the sled race we see how many teams are entered and race times are then set. We either call or email the team captain with the time when your bed team will race. We work hard at honoring any specific time requests when teams register.

  • Do we have to be fast?

    There is a traveling trophy for the fastest time. But the spirit of the day is to have fun and a sense of community while funding beds for children. There is a lot of laughter!

  • What is the high school team spirit award?

    There is a traveling trophy that is presented to the school with the most team entries.


  • Are beds provided or do teams have to get their own beds for the race?

    Beds are provided to All teams entering the bed race.

  • What are the rules for the Bed Race?

    Teams can run, walk, skip or crawl...it doesn't matter. All need to just have a ball!(For more details click here for Bed Race Rules

  • How could a team get disqualified?

    Teams will get disqualified for any of these reasons:

    • For operations deemed unsafe by the judges, 
    • For costumes or bed decorations that are deemed inappropriate or defy the spirit of the bed race competition
    • For participants who do not conduct themselves to the highest standards of sportsmanship, particularly with regard to other competitors, for use of abusive language or gestures

    Any of these will be grounds for disqualification.

  • How does a team enter the race?

    Teams pay an entry fee of $250 and hand in their ‘Registration Form’ to join the race.


  • What happens in the event of rain, ice or snow?

    If it is a light rain we race, if it is heavy or lightening we cancel. We suggest the teams show up and we decide at race time. We could delay if radar info looks favorable.


  • Can an organization or individual just donate to the Bed Race Fund and not enter the race?

    Sponsors, donors, any organizations are recognized during the event, however we do accept donations year round. To make a donation, please visit our Donation page. Donations are accepted year round.
